Founded in 1995 by the SCSVMV University (a deemed university since 1993), the college offers an integrated Ayurveda education combining traditional knowledge with modern medical science, under a fully functional hospital and pharmacy on the Poonamalle/Chennai campus. Students are imparted the insights of the principles of Ayurveda through highly qualified faculty and these students are the torch bearers in the spread of this medical system throughout the country.

Recognition of degree:
The B.A.M.S. degree awarded by SCSVMV University and is a recognized medical qualification by apex body National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM – Ministry of AYUSH). The degree holders are eligible to practice Ayurveda System of medicine throughout India and eligible to get admission to post graduate courses (M.D. / M.S) in all universities offering PG courses in Ayurveda.
